With the cost to borrow being reduced, what is the rationale behind renting? Though I do get that renting at a low cost makes sense if you are aiming for something specific later on! |

if i wanted to live at Keele and Lawrence, i'd just move to Barrie and be Lnxguy's bottom bitch. |

or maybe someone bought their house before the huge price inflation?? that's what a lot of people forget.. If I bought a house 10+ years ago, my mortgage is significantly smaller than someone who's entering the market right now. |

Pretty much, without these numbers your monthly doesn't mean shit <--- $605 bi-weekly, 25 year AM, rate is prime - %0.75. My mortgage is based on a 9% rate though (So I pay this bitch off faster). Ballin' I double up my mortgage payments, so every second biweekly payment is double and all goes to principal (effectively at current amort killing principal twi as fast, slows down as you are closer to pay off). Should be mortgage free by early/mid 40's for primary residence. |

Although my mortgage is pennies compared to yours I'm sure. Originally Posted By: 87ZCSi What's the bank prime rate that you're working with now then? Whatever TD's prime rate is. |

But TD isn't dropping prime rate. It's still 3%, so the interest rate is 2.15 EDIT oops, just realized our mortgages are not the same. my mortgage is prime - .85% |

I have the same rate (P-0.85%) through Scotia. Mortgage was done in August 2011 |

My friend is a broker offering variable @ -0.8 today. What's the big deal? |
You couldn't get P-0.85% in 2013-2014. The most I heard was P-0.5% last year. So people who got the P-0.85% in 2011 were almost the last batch. I forgot when but in 2012 the discount for variable mortgage were slowly disappearing from all major lenders. |

wtf if i was paying $800/mo i'd be ballin out with my cawk out! $935/bi weekly. |
the discount to -.8 is present now for sure, just didnt think it was so readily available with a big bank if the prime rate drops, though, the discount may also be reduced to offset it |

Maybe that's why people's mortgages are lower, just because you can go and buy a c63 amg, doesn't mean you should |
