407 Transponder Question based on your experience...

I recently acquired a 407 transponder and it's registered to my civic. However, I am wondering if I was to carpool or rent a car or steal Rob's Ferrari. Can I still use my transponder to get billed for the trip or will I get dinged with double billing?

It works in other cars most of the time but they don't suggest it.

Ditto as per above.

If it doesn't register, you will get stuck with the usual fees. If you call them, they may back out the charge but the $$$ isn't worth the time.

I got double billed years ago and they said I am not suppose to do it.
They reverses the bill saying they would do it only that time.

beware with rental cars... I think 407 has a list of the plates used, and they will charge them, and the rental company will rape you with "admin" fees.

Re: 407 Transponder Question based on your experience...

Back in the day, the package came with the 407 transponder in a tin foil wrapper, similar to a hot dog wrapper...

If you're in a situation where your car's going thru 407 but you don't it to trigger, wrap it in tin foil...

it came in the tin foil wrapper. but good to know, I'll wrap it for a just in case scenario.
