Can someone explain this to me.

York University campus in Markham around hwy 7 between Kennedy and Warden.
Traffic currently is at a complete standstill in the area especially northbound/southbound, I am curious if they took into account how people are supposed to actually attend class, like how do you GET TO class?

Risky, you're looking at it all wrong. Grab a condo unit there ASAP. divide unit into 100 sqft rooms. profit.

perhaps the approved development would include some sort of infrastructure upgrade. i don't know how zoning works but if you're adding x amount of people/space into an area, you'll also need to have x kms more stretches of road, shopping malls, grocery stores, transit lines and shit.
or they know the demographic that'll attend in that area will be driving their cars and they'll build a massive parking structure with HOV lanes.

Unless they offer helicopter rides, even if they add a 100 more lanes, bicycle lanes, HOV, insert ground transport medium here, it will not help move the population of fobs in the area from one spot to another.

actually good idea here. i'm thinking (well with funds from folks mainly, i have none yet lol) to buy a condo/town/semi at woodbine/16th planned community when they tear down buttonville airport. guaranteed easy rent, then sell after 1yr+
this dev around york U prob be up quicker though. mind you shit's already $$$ there for markham.
as freakin usual the GTA builds, builds, builds when it comes to land/condos/development etc. but road and transit infrastructure is still behind
they'll never learn. at least those viva buses lanes are in west of warden all the way to yonge or whatever. but what about warden eastbound? is it still 2 lanes, with middle for the buses? or going to 3? traffic there is full retard till you pass kennedy. esp with the new plaza/etc there.| Risky Business |

It's a combination of everything, plazas all around so people are darting in and out of driveways onto busy streets like hwy 7 and kennedy, retarded drivers, and worst of all volume volume volume. You can spend 10-15 minutes trying to get through 1-2 km stretch to cross 407 northbound. Couple that with a go train stiation and people leaving that....wowowowowoowowowowowowowowowow
IT's full retard now, I can't imagine what it will be like with a huge school there, plus the pan am games stuff they are building, plus new movie theatre, jesus fawk. i want to die.

^yeah, used to drive there tons years ago and it was only becoming worse. now it's insane with slight upgrade/widening to hwy 7 east of warden and CRAZY development lol. wouldn't wanna be there during rush hour times ugh. shit even sat can be nuts /because mostly asian but also vol in general

I've been bitching about Markham's traffic for years now and how the govt is nothing but a bunch of delusional retards. They've been ignoring road infrastructure prior to all of this new construction with the exception of the stupid Viva crap that they're building. I suppose the good thing about the York expansion is that at least someone will end up taking the bus, but you can bet that Mr. Mainland with 2 Bimmers in his driveway isn't going to.

i was in that area this week....what a cluster fuck! I couldn't believe it.
I live by yd mall....took me over 1hr to get to Markham Stoufville Hospital that morning and probs longer if I hadn't done some major traffic cutting at 404 and hwy 7.

The stretch between woodbine and kennedy; i'd say 16/mm is better - lights stay green going E-W longer as the N-S roads are "smaller" streets. Whereas, on 7 every cross road is relatively high volume or coming out of some office / mall -- so you're being bogged by the lights all the time.
West of Bayview, 7 will be faster since there are fewer intersections until you get to Dudebridge.

there are bridges being built between 16/MM and i think MM/elgin or maybe even 7/16th to connect woodbine to leslie, can't fuckin wait - it'll relieve so much pressure of 16th/MM and soon elgin (which isnt TOO bad yet).
