Just picked it up today. OMG this POS has no torque but just wants to keep accelerating.



I'll miss the 335d. It was a great car. If I was going to only have one car, the 335d would be it. Since it isn't, I needed to change my own gears again... Man I really did miss playing with the stick!

With the taxes saved on the trade-in I got market value. Picked up the M3 for under $40k not including trade obviously.

This is a 2008 sedan with 62k. Colour is sparkling graphite metallic, the only year this colour was offered. Car is fully loaded except for EDC. I think I'm getting old, the ride in this thing is pretty firm, EDC would have been nice to be able to drive in comfort mode lol.

Risky: had no choice but to buy it from TC, but I did get a hook up there so the experience was good for once LOL. I fucking hate TC with a passion too.

Forgot to mention. Took me a few months to find a sedan in 6spd that was clean with low mileage and all service records. Lots of garbage out there for sale and mostly fucking DCT.

No warranty. The only warranty issue this car has ever had was the rear side window shade that needed to be replaced because a clip broke lol. Car is super clean which is why I snatched it up.

Completely different driving experience. The E90M, although softer compared to the E46M is very connected. Everything is just so tight. You can feel the tranny/diff slap and hear the gears whine, torque loading/unloading on the drivetrain... All of that is normal and in the manual it actually warns you about it. The one thing I never liked about turbo cars is throttle response. They just lag too much compared to a high strung NA motor. And the induction noise from the 8 ITB's is just pure sex.

It's 8.5 years old now (Aug 2005 in service date) so it's really not that high, but it is high for a guy who has never driven it to work in the 5 years I've had it. No issues significant enough to even mention, just a few nagging things as it gets up there. It's been a solid car, and I've done all the maintenance, even power steering fluid because of a groan it had started to make at about 140k.

My issue now is it needs some suspension work, and the front end has some damage. It's worth ~10k, so if I put money into it, I've got to keep it. At what point do I start to let things go, put money into it, or let the car itself go? It's FARRRRRRRRR from a beater, but if I put 4-6k into it, I've got to keep it because then it'll only be worth $10250 anyway.

Congrats on the new car; you'll love it. You're absolutely right in finding the non-EDC equipped car to be harsh. We opted for it as we're old and like a cushy ride every once and awhile.

F'n Wes \:\) We almost bought the B8 S4 until we test drove the M3. Although off the line the S4 feels (probably) faster than the M3, the overall package of the M3 made it an easy decision (engine, steering feedback, handling).

Had it since Nov of last year; it's actually for my wife as she needed an automatic car as she didn't want to learn to drive my MT car.

As for coupe vs. sedan, that's a personal choice in terms of style and functionality. Now, it would have been ideal if the M3 came in a wagon!

It's remaining stock including the wheels. It came with the base gun metal 18" wheels which to me look way better than the optional 19's. Only thing I'm doing/did are the blackline taillights.

The "LM's" I had were reps LOL. Those are gone. Since this is a weekend car comfort doesn't really matter, although the wife is complaining that we can't do road trips with it. We can, but will need to visit gas stations quite frequently LOL.

My problem with the 19's is that they are not aggressive looking at all. They are barely concaved in the back and the fronts are actually flat, whereas the 18's are concaved so they look a lot more aggressive for a stock wheel. The 19's being an option are lame!

These optional wheels look way better than the M3 19's

My initial plan was to get a 2006 330i and I was going to put these exact wheels on it

I actually saw on in Lawrence park, woman driver and 335 on an e90 pre face lift rolling on those and it looked sexyyyyyyyyy.

Agree. But if someone is shopping for a car in the "FRS price range" the ST costs 10% more. That is nothing to scoff at given a specific budget. However, I do understand that big baller M3 owners can afford to buy a Focus ST in all possible available colors with cash XD

IIRC FRS is 27, Focus is 30. I went into a dealer looking for a Focus ST to drive 2 months ago. Sadly, they didn't have any \:\( \:\( \:\( Looks like a wicked fun car

I'd probably look at a FiST over a FoST too, but I've got a good friend with a FoST and he's not the kind to take his car purchases lightly. It helped that he could re-use his S2Ks 245 tires on it \:D

The car optioned the way it is was around $58 or $59k. Low mileage as well. Realistically it would sell around $35k private, but this is CPO so factor in another $3k lol. My guess is that they will let it go for $38k.

car threw a CEL twice in 4 months since I took over from the previous owner.

bad hesitation / rough idle in the (deep) cold -- it's parked outside all the time.

severe power loss twice (shown on the screen in addition to the CEL)

2nd time i took it in - misfire in banks 1-3


SA said that w/ the high pressure injectors normally have a life of around 80k km (was surprised that mine is still working at 120k km); basically from my first visit he said that it's just a matter of time so we were both hoping that they'd go before my CPO was up in August.
