Current S2K Build Inside.

I'll try to keep this updated from time to time to for you guys.

So far I'm in parts gathering mode, with a few things installed @ this point.

My goals are somewhere in the 400-450 range on pump, and then a little over 500 on 110.

To do this, I'll enlist the help of these parts.

gt3076r w/a .82 exhaust housing.

The turbine housing got sent off this week to be jet coated black.

Pulled the fender off last night to do some clean up and to keep it from getting damaged while I work on it.

Have been seeing your threads in other places looks like a nice street ride.
You can get them Odyssey batteries from password jdm like cft were using on the red s2k they just finished.

lol, I've been whoring up H-T & S2Ki..

I contacted CFT about those same batteries from the thread on H-T, but they were $165 & $195 if remember correctly. I decided I wasn't going to pay that for a battery.

So with that said, I looked around and found one for 1/2 the price approx $80 bucks I bought today and hooked up this evening. Fired it right up..so we shall see if it works or not.

My clutch arrived today as well.

Yeah I paid a little over 100 bucks for the one I had on the Si and it ended up going bad out of warranty.So I went to the local battery store and got one that compared to the Odyssey and was half the price.

What clutch you end up going with caarbon on carbon?

And any pointers for pulling the fenders?HAHA

Clutch is a Competition Clutch, Stage 4. I bought it from Jeff (evans-tuning) Best deal I found online was $565 shipped I think. He said it's the one he runs in all the s2k's he tunes.

The fenders are easy actually.

I think you have to pull the front bumper to get to the 2 bolts underneath the headlight..

Other than that, there are 5-6 on top in the engine bay, easy enough, and then 3 underneath you hahve to lay on your side to see. I had undercoating on mine I had to scrape off so the socket would get a good bite.

Then only 2 more inside the door, extension and you are golden, 10mm.

Don't forget to unplug the little light before you yank it off the car..lol.

My Si is in my cousins hands...he is building it to do some serious work, 700whp worth of work in fact...

I'd think this car would take the Si on the same whp level do the rwd/fwd, as they both way pretty much teh same.

Don't worry Sam, the wideband unit is built in

The work thats been done has only been over the last week. I'm more or less @ a standstill now, b/c my manifold won't be in for another month or so.

I can still move it around under it's own power for now..so I'll be chilling doin little things until I put it up on jackstands for the manifold/clutch/exhaust work in the following month.

You guys otta know I would never forget ya!!

2.5" on the hot side, I was thinking 3" on the cold side, but it doesn't look like there is much room to work with, so I might be forced to do 2.5"

I have bascially nill experience when it comes to AEM. My buddy had it in his Evo..lol.

Should be a little learning curve, but from what I've seen already it seems pretty cool. I'm excited.

I bought the AEM boost solenoid with the package. It was 50 bucks. Plug and pray baby..lol.

I bought a 3bar map sensor, plugs right in to where the stock em one was.

I've thought about that, and there is really no other option aside from moving it around and making it look haphazard.

Out of the 3 honda's I've owned, I've NEVER had to replace anything under teh hood ever.

Air pump block off plate for the people running AEM EMS and got rid of there Air pump injection system. Cleans up the engine bay nicely...

I have put off doing a compression check since I've owned the car. It just ran so good I figured it was ok..lol.

Anyway, I like to have a baseline before I do any sort of "major work" to it.

Remember it's a 11.1 comp motor.

Results:

Cyl. 1 (227). Cyl. 2 (230). Cyl. 3 (231). Cyl. 4 (235).

I'm happy w/that.

I pulled the oem exhaust out today. The pics were taken in the dark, so I had to use a flash which tends to wash the image out, however the exhaust looks to be in awesome shape..

I'm betting some sort of stainless steel.

It also weighs 100 million lbs.



OEM twinloop..lol.


Some sort of 90 degree silencer thingy?? JDM?

Also pulled the header today as well. Crazy, this thing is also stainless, and looks very nice indeed. I see now why buying a header doesn't really add any power.


Check out the size of the exhaust ports. Honda guys will realize, they are rather large. 2" across by 1 3/4" (oval shaped).

Once all that other garbage is out of the way, I quickly mocked up the new manifold.

The a/c line is going to fook me pretty hard, however I will relocate that as well, I'm not giving up my precious a/c this time around.





I can't bolt the turbo up until I get the lines moved, doesn't matter right now b/c the housing isn't back from getting coated.

I am working on the tranny tomorrow I think and the rest of this week.

Then I'll get to work on the turbo/mani stuff.

Yea, I actually posted on the 2nd page of that. $205 bucks for rubber lines is absurd. I'll have to figure something else out, but I'm not paying that.

Especially when you take into account you may possible have to replace the drier unit which is ~$100 bucks and then have it refilled as well, another ~100 bucks...

Total cost would be well over 400 bucks..no thanks.

Couldn't tell ya?

The Si was 2650 w/o driver.
S2k is 2833 w/o driver.

Si was fwd
S2K is rwd

Similar power.

So it will come down to powerband & gear ratios

I'm hoping the s2k is quicker. I know it's certainly faster around a track than the Si @ almost any power level.

For an s2000 ?? This was recommended to me by Jeff Evan's. He uses them on the s2k's he tunes?

I own this same exact clutch & PP. I love the feel and held 500whp 350wtq w/ no prob.
My friend also tried this clutch on his RSX k20 GT35R build and didnt start to slip till around 450wtq.........
So basically I dont undertand the harsh words........I have to disagree w/ you

I havnt been on here in a while....got married....and many other time consuming things.
Great choice in turbos. I wouldnt trade mine for the world. Did you go .82A/R.
Also, will Corey still tune it or have you been talking w/ Jeff.....

Well tonight I finally got the tranny down and out.

It's certainly not your 45min bseries tranny..lol.

I started this adventure on Sat (sorta). Real serious on Sunday afternoon and little bit last night.

I certainly couldn't have done this task w/o these...HIGHLY recommonded for your day/day duties.

I bought the set @ HF for $26 bucks, and these are for an impact so somewhat heavier duty even if they are HF quality.



Tomorrow night I am going to pull the PP, clutch disc, & flywheel off. Send the flywheel off to Marietta Ignition for a resurface, and try to pick it up Friday, or Sat morning.

It is...very big in fact. It's hard to judge size in the pics, but you can see it almost goes from jackstand to jackstand..lol. Not much room under there to move it around..

However it doesn't seem omgtoheavy..but it's awkward..nothing like typical bseries honda transmissions..

I don't think I can. The car isn't up high enough to slide the tranny out from underneath it..but if I can find a scale..and get it up on their I might...have to see, no promises.. However I'm not draining it..so it won't be dry..lol.

That 90 degree JDM thing on your stock exhaust is call a hemholtz resonator and helps with droning. the exhaust and header are stainless and heavy!

How long did it take you for the stock tranny removal?

I hope you didnt pull the starter bolt all the way out and its just resting in there.

If you plan on removing the tranny a lot, dont put the top bolt back in, there are more than enough holding it together.

took me 6 hours first try, stupid ass top bolt kicked my ass

Great info, I had no idea.

It took me a little more than 6 hours, as I didn't have the swivels and had to stop/etc.

I did remove the starter bolt...?? I don't plan on removing it again..lol. But of course you never know...I don't want to say never...

Pulled the pressure plate, clutch and flywheel off tonight.

It's certainly worn, with plenty of hotspots.

I am going to drop the flywheel off tomorrow, and gonna try to pick it up Friday to start have it back to start to get in this weekend.

I was referrring to the top bolt where the trans meets the block, the reason you have to drop the subframe 3-4 inches

There are 2 top bolts that I had..then 1 that is on the left (drivers) side from underneath..I barely got to w/the motor leaning.

What fitting are people using when they tape the girdle for the return?

I was looking there, same place I bought the stuff for my Si back when.

Where did you steal your oil feed from. In the past I used a t from tuner toys.

Prolly this weekend. Some stuff came in, but I haven't done much work on it.

Here is the turbo after it was disassembled and I sent the housing off to be coated.

A picture of the exhaust housing after it was returned.




Full assembled but not clocked yet.




Final picture is of the 3" steel piping for the exhaust, the flex pipe, resonator and some misc fittings along with my sandwhich adapter and 2.5" alum piping.

Why yes it is. Same resonator I used on my Si and my DD hatch.

They are cheap, but last forever and have a pretty decent sound when coupled with a decent muffler.

I have no clue about the muffler, haven't gotten that far yet.

Workin on the down pipe currently.

Be careful with that liquid filled fuel gauge. When they get hot then tend to read different that actual pressure. The only time it's accurate is when it's cool. Having it directly on the rail in a hot engine bay is bad mmmmkay.

It's for reference...I don't have an adjustable FPR.

On the Si I had a generic summit gauge and it worked great, but vibrated to death.

Not really much to update yet. I had the flu last weekend, and was slow getting started again this week.

I did begin the downpipe, it's tricky b/c the space is so tight..working on that and then the i/c pipes next.

I don't sell or make manifolds, but the one I bought was a one-off piece I had made. I also got a killer deal, and only paid 300 for it.

Something like a ram-horn can be from 300-900.

I pulled the oil pan off the other day. Look @ all the bolts holding it on. There are 2 big tranny casing bolts not shown, as well as 2 for the a/c compressor you don't see..lol.

Yea that's a little steep for me. But if I had the cash I would have bought your 30R or the 35R. But my thoughts are once you start getting into the 35R's or bigger your making yourself just a drag car. Wouldn't be a daily driver like I need. :\

Check out evans-tuning.com and go to their dyno sections.

Plenty of stock b-series making great power while retaining daily drive duties.

Yea I know what you mean but I don't believe it would be my style to drive a 450hp civic 50 miles in stop and go traffic everyday. Some of my buddies say a stage 3 clutch alone is no fun to drive in traffic so I couldn't imagine something bigger. I'm sure some people would like it ;).

I didn't either...I rarely ever had it turned up to 400whp, let alone 450whp.

I think most of the time it sat @ 330whp.

Thats the fun with turbo's, you can adjust the power to your level.

With a small wastegate spring you could run lower boost.

3-5psi or so?

Yep very true you could daily it at that. Your spring couldn't boost up to high to get the max hp out of your turbo but it could be a daily I guess.

Anyways your turbo is a great size and I would have picked exact same one.

I'm anxious to see how my t3/t4 runs. Seemed like the one you had made decent power.

Well, you wouldn't buy a 35r to only make 350whp...lol. So using @ only spring pressure is a moot point..lol.

Your 57trim will be great, I miss mine honestly, but I've never driven a 30r car so I am anxious to see how this thing reacts. I'll have plenty of vids/pics for everyone here.

Yea I know as I said above you only use those and bigger to basically run drag cars. but your right you can run very very low boost and make it a daily.

I can't wait for you to fire that s2k, going to be interesting to compared that to your civic.

Initally I had thought a 4bolt would't be a big deal, but it is gonna be a bear...the vband turbo option is $$, so I figured in teh future if I upgrade to a 35r, I will go that route.

I took off the compressor housing, b/c I was working my lines and such, alot easier w/o it in the way.



I had to build a collector to split my 3" into 2, 2.5".

Pictures have been hard to come by lately. I started on the exhaust last weekend and it was a P.I.T.A. It's down to where the diff is. I have to make figure out how to fit my mufflers in there, not alot of room.

I also finished my oil return, and wrapped a few hoses in the engine bay, took me longer than I anticipated but it's done.

The past few nights, I have been tightening up the engine bay.

Wastegate is on, wastegate dump has been mocked up as of last night.

Tonight, I hope to finish running my oil and coolant lines, and maybe get the wastegate welded up and wrapped and put on.

Then I could add oil/coolant and get it fired up!!

Then all that would be left is finishing the exhaust, installing the aem, injectors & other misc odds/ends. Then put the bumper/fender back on and clean everything up.

Pics will be coming, once I have something more "pretty" to show.

Finished up the oil feed and coolant lines last night, along with some other misc stuff.

I won't be able to work on it tonight, but tomorrow I should be able to put oil/coolant in and get it fired up. I'll take a short video, as the exhaust isn't complete yet.

My i/c pipes that my cousin (narfdanarf on here) welded for me.

She fired up tonight in fact.

Welded in the o2 bungs for the pri. o2 & the wideband.

Added coolant/oil and tied up some other misc items.

Turned over on the first try.

Of course it doesn't have much of an exhaust, so I am working on getting that welded up asap, so I can hear any exhaust leaks.

I am working hard to have exhaust done on tues. Wed will be aem install, and thursday / fri will be injector install. Spend sat doing boost cont. wiring. Then mon and tues tie u loose ends like bumper and fender. Then tune on the 29th.

Got the exhaust on and bolted up last night. I didn't get the hangers made yet, but that shouldn't take more than 30-45 mins.

Sounds good, although it's really low...so I'm not sure how it will sound...but if it becomes a problem, I'll pony up and swap mufflers.

Also swapped spark plugs to a colder set & readied the injectors to be removed.

Tonight I'd like to swap in the ecu and tinker with it.

Tomorrow injectors.

Saturday will be vacuum lines and wiring.

Well, I installed the AEM, threw on a basemap and she fired up.

Awesome.

I installed my map sensor, setup the cal and it wouldn't fire over. Took the map off, and put the stocker back on...fired up...so hmm..set that aside for now.

On to the injectors..

Got all 4 in and wired up the pigtails.

It was late, so I am gonna load the cal for it tomorrow and see if she turns over..if not..might have some problems..lol.

I did not @ first. After I swapped the sensor back, I did some reading and realized it's different than Hondata on how it handles stuff like that.

I figure I'll do it tomorrow @ the tune..just take a minute.

I am having issues with the new injectors, getting them to run/etc.

Car fires up, runs/stumbles for a sec then dies.
