Is there a difference in how you get your protein post workout? My routine when I get home from the gym in the morning is to make my breakfast (Coach's Oats oatmeal cooked, scoop of vanilla protein powder, 2 tablespoons crushed walnuts, sprinkle of cinnamon) and I'm thinking that's fine, right? Would it be beneficial to just drink the protein powder mixed with water...body absorbing it better/faster or doesn't really make a difference?

NO the body cannot tell a fucking difference if you do a scoop of whey, a big ropey load from some coked out bulgarian dude in a club, or a piece of chicken. protein is protein, carbs are carbs, fat is fat.

Thanks for your input Beefy. You know, just because you eat a "bad" meal here and there doesn't mean you have to always eat bad, or clean for that matter. And that was lunch by the way, not dinner.

whats the big deal about bread with cheese on it? that's not going to make him fat unless he eats it 5 times a day along with other things.

That looks to be about a 400-500 calorie meal, so about the same as a creemee.

Haha, that's what the recipe said it had per serving (two slices + salad). I thought it seemed kind of high myself but just those slices of bread are probably 200 calories each so maybe. I think there was 3 tablespoons total of olive oil. And some butter.

Doesn't matter at all. You have an entire day to get the protein in. There's no window in which you must consume your protein, so it doesn't matter what you mix it with.

You are just trolling dude. Go back to out there.

There are a lot of opinions on diet but there is a strong push against what old schoolers would think of "the anabolic window". Silocks post definitely reflects the new school thinking.

I agree. Wasn't it all about getting in a protein shake immediately after a work-out...as soon as you could? What happened to that?

We learned more is what happened. The old thinking was based on a small sample size wasn't really applicable to the general population. There have been a lot of studies lately that show there is an "anabolic window," but that the window is just gigantic. It stays open for 24-48 hours. So, more like a cargo bay door.

When I was in college I was that guy who had to eat within 30 mins of lifting, I literally went from the gym to the cafeteria.


Now I know better.
