It's a more luxurious Maxima, right?

For a DD I don't see how you can go wrong if you find one in decent shape.

It's a more luxurious Sentra with an SR20.

I like em a bit, but they look like a Sentra with a cheap bodykit IMO.

My good buddy has one, and its a nice car. Especially just for a DD. His is auto though, and they way he drives it, Im surprised it isnt broke yet. Must be a good one...

Not to threadjack (again), but I just picked up a 99 Maxima SE Limited, loaded with pretty much every option, leather, sunroof, auto climate control and all, 5 speed, for a daily. It's really nice. I'll post some pics this weekend when I clean it up.

Yeah the SR20DET option is what has me interested. I think it'd be a decently fun car stock, too.

yea, my sister has had 2 of them now. a 96 and a 2000. it feels gutless and it is boring.

I don't think it is based on the North American Sentra. It's really a Nissan badged car sold Overseas only. I think it might be called the Primera overseas?

You have to watch out for that 5 speed in those though, it might have the 5th gear popout problem. There is a fix, I don't remember what it is though. Moof had that problem show up on his way home with his new to him Nissan Pulsar just the other day.

It was a rebadged Primera without all the European goodness. Came stock with the sr20de, greatest motor evAr!11!! I had one and blew the motor up in it, which is apparently impossible to do. Installing the new one was a beyotch because I kept receiving conflicting information. Otherwise, they're good cars for what they are - oh, and some come with factory LSD.

This thread has some good information. As far as years to avoid, IIRC mechanically the car never really changed all that much; just cosmetics. PM Burdman; he's had a few sr20's as well as a current G20 that I believe is boosted.

The G20T's are really, really hot IMO. When I bought my GSR, I was cross-shopping the G20t (the 99 and up version, or was it 98? 97? The last one) and the GC8 2.5RS. It ended up that the latter were too expensive, and I wasn't looking to get an SR20DET swap any time soon.

You will love the hig revving goodness of the SR20.

The G20 is basically a higher price version of my car w/ leather
and infinity badge.Great thing is they dont have a speed limiter and
a higher redline (7500rpms).

Wish I could find one around here that isnt beat to hell.

Well, the problem arises when you try to find a transmission to go with the SR20DET since there's virtually no FWD transmissions made that can handle the power of the SR20DET. Also, even with an SR20DET swap you'll still be stuck in 14 second land.

I have a 97 Black on Black Do a Y-pipe STAT. Daily driver or not you cant refuse the extra 15hp for 160$
