Any opinions on the hatchbacks? Build quality, ride, fun factor, mechanical issues? Was toying with the idea of it for a fun yet practical car but don't know much about them.

Price seem fair for year/mileage? I'm thinking on the high side (even the 2011) but what do I know.

^titty, your info is only true for the bug eye impreza.
Big tasty is talking about the hatch, which is a number of generations and revisions later.

The car is all good, cept for that mad understeer. Working on it (depending on what) can be a PITA due to engine config. Do the normal WRX's have the same water jacket issue as the sti? I'd look into that.

Basic interior, decent performance. Shitty on gas & ride is firm.

bro in law had 2011 and got 2014. he says he'd never keep it for long term but loves the car.

pretty much this.

i had the 08 sti first hatch gen. and everything was x2 for the above lol...

for the most part they seem like decent everyday cars, just keep up to date on your service.

yup

I'm on year 5 with my 2010 from new. I still really enjoy it. Love it in winter but it does suck gas. One day I will get a tune and exhaust on it \:\)

One thing I hate is how cheap the paint is. Already some rust forming and paint seems paper thin.

Just sold my 07 sedan, had it since new. Pretty much what's already been said, including the super thin paint. It pissed me off to no end.

I never tuned mine, but apparently tuning solves a lot of issues with gas mileage and allows for slight increase in performance (no TBE, just K&N filter).

I've got an 04 with 140k, I drive it 100km a day and its been reliable for the almost two years I've owned it.

Mine is tuned and I find it to be pretty good on gas (all things considered).

i had two 04 WRXs and 07 STI.

The WRXs where great dailys. Espeically my black 04 that had 180,000km on it Drove so good.

WRXs make for better dailys than the STI, that thing drank gas as bad as my excursion drank diesel (almost)
and like others said was pretty rough ride for our crappy roads. But damn was it fun haha

For DD, I say WRX with a tune and exhaust.

The STi is bad on gas and Google ringland/head gasket issue on the EJ25

I like mine but do not miss the higher insurance premium and cost of ownership
