Is it me or are these the most dangerous roads to travel on?

My entire drive to work is on "back roads", 1 lane each way and I have to say it "feels" the least safe than any other type of road imo for a fatal collision.

Let's say with the 407 feeling the safest at 9/10, these to me are like 2/10 and much more likely to be involved in a serious to fatal collision.

This happened 10 minutes after I drove past the exact same spot, sends chills down my spine. So many times you see dipshits weaving in and out of their lane, I am not sure if drunk or cell phones or both.

Yes, any undivided single lane road where passing is allowed is more dangerous. 407 is not exactly safe, there are no barriers between east and west lanes in many areas (even worse, the new extension to Oshawa).

And yet, they feel like the safest roads to cycle on.

Trying to see if there any measures to take to make it "safer"

I try to hug the shoulder or at least stay as close as possible. Wait to have a car in front of you, etc.

OP is wrong, Brampton and Markham/R.Hill Roads are the most dangerous.

I opt to not take Elgin Mills when I go home. Single lane roads, less margin of error. I rather take Major Mac even though there are lights, more cops, etc.

When travelling to Ottawa, I would take HW 7 a few times. Beautiful scenery that breaks up the monotony of the 401 but damn seen many near misses with cars overtaking at the last minute and cutting it very close with oncoming traffic.

yep. was driving once on old major mac (2 lane twisty road) to my brother's house and a animal jumped out, the car coming the opposite direction swerved into my lane, lucky for me there was enough room to avoid a collision but it was close. there's also farm fields on both sides, once in winter i had a loaner RDX and with the wind it blew the snow so badly on the road i had to crawl because i couldn't see 2 feet infront of me. now i just take rutherford which is a nice 2 lane each way with lights and everything.

If people would just keep up with the flow of traffic and not hold up everyone else because they are afraid it would be safer. But of course that wouldn't happen. Especially in Markham

They should really have car control school along with driving school. It's the fear that makes people freeze up, nevermind those that aren't prepared.

the problem is, people don't take driving seriously enough.

People also need to get off their phones.

It's so annoying, holding up traffic, taking forever to take off when the light changes green.

We need stiffer penalties and better enforcement. I feel like YRP-Markham don't pull enough cars over. I was following a car and we were both doing 90 in a 60 and passed a cop in the opposite direction, cop didn't care, must've been end of shift and wanted to go home.
