Factors:

1 - Some of the degrees are in crappy fields that there's simply no demand for. Like History
2 - Baby boomers aren't retiring. Those high paying jobs aren't being released to younger workers anymore.
3 - As the article says: Too much supply of highly educated workers. And they don't want to do manual labor, like being a plumber etc.

cater to the wealthy, speak proper english, look good, smell good, do quality work, and use quality materials. as a trade if you do that you will be fine. (fine is subjective to your own standard of living)

Apparently you don't become wealthy owning one Tims, you have to own 4-5 Tims (which is probably why most owners do).
